The team at College Baseball Match (CBM) had an idea — they needed a development partner that could help them realize it.

Make it real

Gatelets quickly worked with CBM to understand overall objectives. It did not take long to move from PowerPoint to some creative static (HTML) concepts.

Prototypes work

It took only 2 weeks to develop and release a prototype. Over 2,000 students enrolled in the prototype program, which gave us an ample amount of feedback to help shape our ideas and decide on an optimal path forward.

Move from idea to product

In just 2 months, we released a Beta version. Version 1.0 was released on February 14, 2017. We have adopted an agile development approach — a high development temp ensuring CBM is constantly improving.

We have built a platform that will evolve and improve for years to come

Using years of application development experience and a strong understanding of where the product is going, we have been disciplined in building a product platform that is flexible and can evolve easily — modular mathematical algorithms, extensible "family" structure, multi-year student support and a responsive UI that can easily morph depending on new and changing needs.

Custom API

Gatelets has developed a custom proprietary API for CBM enabling developers to quickly and effectively extend or improve the product. A clear professional API gives the product a solid foundation from which to grow.

Gatelets has worked with CBM and subject matter experts to develop a variety of scoring algorithms. The areas covered include (currently) baseball, academic history, financial situation and social requirements. For example, the system takes into account the athletes age, height, weight, years on varsity, batting average and throwing arm.

Users are presented with a personalized Dashboard — the contents are based on their subscription status and what they have completed or seen in the system. The dashboard presents extensive information including scoring, potential colleges and notifications in an easy-to-consume manner.

CBM currently enables users to subscribe annually to the service and/or use the "Ask a Coach" service. The subscription model is built into the lowest levels of the application enabling CBM to define exactly what the users do or do not see. Behind the scenes Gatelets Commerce enables CBM to add or modify their offerings with ease.

The Ambassador program enables CBM to give "ambassadors" special coupons — when they give these out and the user subscribes to CBM, the Ambassador gets a reward. CBM has a full system to enable custom coupons, manage Ambassadors and see how the service is being employed.

Gatelets has developed an intelligent Blogging environment for CBM — the articles are tied to various factors including whether the athlete has subscribed or not, their graduation year, age, academic or athletic profile and various other factors. Useful information is targeted. Students and parents only see articles helpful to them. For example, a sophomore would not be interested in an article for freshmen students.
